DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

The Computer Department organizes a rich mix of academic, professional, and extracurricular activities throughout the year. This includes guest lectures and seminars led by industry experts and alumni, covering topics such as AI, cybersecurity, IoT, and modern software development. Hands‑on workshops and webinars help students build practical skills  The department also hosts coding contests,  poster presentations, and project expos that showcase student innovation, teamwork, and technical expertise  Industry/educational visits and MOUs with companies or institutions support real-world exposure and internships  Faculty engage in professional development through MOOCs and certification programmes, while mentorship initiatives connect senior and junior students for guidance and academic support. Finally, collaborative alumni‑parents meets and student association events foster community, networking, and career counselling opportunities.

1. Career Guidance

The Computer Science Department at Guru Nanak College, Moga, held a career guidance lecture on SEP 14,2024. The department, in collaboration with the Training and Placement Cell, organizes workshops on résumé writing, communication skills, aptitude tests, mock interviews, and group discussions to enhance students’ employability. Industry interaction sessions and seminars by professionals help bridge the gap between academics and real-world IT careers. Through hands-on training, vocational programs, and project-based learning, the department prepares students for successful careers in software development, web programming, and network administration.


2. Banner Making Competition

The Computer Department of Guru Nanak College, Moga organized an exciting Banner Making Competition on SEP 20,2024. The event aimed to encourage creativity and design skills among students, focusing on the theme of technology and innovation. Participants showcased their talent by designing vibrant and meaningful banners using both digital tools and traditional methods. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various courses, and the entries were judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, visual appeal, and originality. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes, and all participants received appreciation for their efforts. The event was a great success, promoting teamwork, artistic expression, and a deeper understanding of design in the digital age.

3. PTM

A Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was organized at Guru Nanak College, Moga on OCT 9,2024  with the objective of strengthening the collaboration between parents and the academic faculty. The meeting provided a valuable platform for discussing students’ academic performance, attendance, behavior, and overall development.Faculty members interacted with parents to share feedback and address any concerns. Suggestions were welcomed to improve the learning environment and student support systems. The active participation of parents reflected their commitment to their children’s education.The PTM concluded on a positive note, with both parents and teachers appreciating the initiative and agreeing to continue working together for the betterment of the students.


4. Lecture on E-Commerce

An extension lecture on E-Commerce was recently organized at Guru Nanak College, Moga by Dr Jatinder Kaur, NOV 12, 2024,  aiming to enhance students’ understanding of the growing digital business landscape. The session covered various aspects of online business, including digital payment systems, e-marketing strategies, cybersecurity, and the role of technology in transforming traditional commerce. The lecture provided practical insights into how e-commerce is reshaping global trade and opened discussions on the career opportunities available in this dynamic field. 


5.Quiz Competition

A Quiz Competition on Computer Awareness was held at Guru Nanak College, Moga on March 1, 2025, aimed at testing and enhancing students’ knowledge in the field of computer science and technology. The event attracted active participation from students of various streams, who competed in rounds covering topics such as computer basics, programming languages, hardware and software, internet technologies, and recent innovations. The quiz featured multiple segments including multiple-choice questions, rapid-fire rounds, and visual identification, making the competition both challenging and interactive. The event successfully fostered curiosity and enthusiasm for technology among the students.


6.Coding and IT Park Activities

Coding and IT Park activities at Guru Nanak College, Moga, play a vital role in enhancing students’ technical knowledge and practical skills in the field of computer science. These activities include regular coding workshops, hackathons, app development sessions, and programming competitions that encourage students to think creatively and solve real-world problems. The college’s IT Park serves as an innovative hub where students can collaborate on projects, experiment with new technologies, and gain hands-on experience in areas such as web development, artificial intelligence, and data science. These initiatives not only strengthen their coding abilities but also build confidence, teamwork, and readiness for careers in the fast-evolving tech industries.
